Rat Rod

The rat rod builders create their vehicles from different parts of different vehicles.  The builder(s) literally create a car from scratch.  It appears rat rod popularity is continually growing since an individual can read a popular magazine featuring articles related to this unique hobby or visit a car show especially designed to appeal to this creativity. In the 1950's such a vehicle was referred to as a "hot rod".  Quite often in the 50's and 60's such a vehicle was used for drag racing.

A little bit of this and a little bit of that and this is what you get, it's ready to roll.

 

 

 A real treasure has been spotted.  Now the builder's imagination runs wild as to the potential of this once upon a time someones pride and joy.

 

 It takes some effort but the purchase is well worth the price, you can tell by the new owner's smile.

 

And so  begins the restoration.

The engine had parts I never heard of, but when finished it ran like a charm.

Classic whitewalls were beautiful  after some finishing touches.

New lights, new frame, new interior, oh what a project with personal rewards.

The interior had a make over too.

Proud owner for a short time. The master mind of this project took it to a car show in Maryland and made a great sale deal.  Another rat rod is under construction as I write this post.
