DO AC Sand Sculpting World Cup

 On June 19-July 6, 2014 the most noted sand sculpting artists in the world will be in Atlantic City, New Jersey to compete for the $75,000 largest prize purse ever in the history of sand sculpting. The winner will also receive the McCord Cup for the winning sculpture.   The artists will be using the highest quality river sand for sculpting.  The  500 tons of river sand must be trucked in because there is more silt in river sand and the silt acts like a glue to hold the sand together.  The world artists are intense with creating amazing works of art.  New this year is the beach game Cheecoting. It is a game of flicking colored marbles along a sand track, individuals compete by being first to reach the finish line with their marble.

 

 

There were two types of competition - single sculptors and doubles.

The world famous boardwalk  Mr. Peanut welcomed all visitors.

A bucket, a shovel, some water and sand can stir your imagination and in many instances make it a magical world for children of all ages.

I had to return to the beach on Saturday to see the finished work and it was amazing.  The following photos were from the doubles division.
